Corey: I can’t comment on how it works in other states, but I’ve never heard of that, and it’s definitely not how it works around here. In fact, based on what I’ve been able to dig up, there are 10-12 states in which the value of the trade-in isn’t exempted from sales tax. If you can provide some more information (e.g., a link to an authoritative explanation) I’d love to see it.
